| Barry Devlin, Eamon Carr and Johnny Fean interviewed on Bay Area radio in 1978. (Note the Olympia beer in cans! "It's the water..." and scroll for special comments from Barry!) From a private collection. Posted with kind permission. |
| "I remember Sheila Renee so well but couldn't recall her name. And yes she was San Jose based (Kate Hayes was our point woman at KSAN if memory serves - whose old man was David Hayes, Van's bass player. Did I just say 'old man'? Peace, y'all.)
"Sheila's house was green shingle, absolutely Mark One 0lder Hippie SF residence. It was fab, actually, poster filled (Sutro baths just around the corner) the faintest smell of joss sticks, and all that old wood and houseplant-filled window ledges. I remember that Sheila kept saying how skinny English and Irish rock bands were. Since I was a fat bastard at the time, I thought she was going on a bit, but then I look at Eamon and Johnny and yep. Skinny. It is fall 78 and I think we were playing the Cow Palace or the Japanese gardens." Barry Devlin, Email to site, 2006 |
