A huge thanks to all who attended the gig at
Top Of The Town - we hope you all enjoyed it as much as the band did! A huge
thanks to Jay McGaghran and Don McGurgan for sound and lights respectively -
it undoubtedly made us seem a lot better than we actually are!
Michael, Ryan and Niall have now returned to England for exams, so gigs will restart in Summer. Preparations for gigs all around Ireland are in place, and we will have details as soon as we get confirmations from the venues and promoters. If we’re playing in a town near you, be the first to know - visit our Tour Dates page for full information.

The band members have all returned to Omagh now for the Easter Break, and as
such as pleased to announce the news of a gig over the holidays. The band will
be appearing at the Top of the Town, Omagh on Easter Monday (9th
April). More details can be found on the Tour Dates
page.
The band are currently
planning for a tour of Ireland in the summer. We

The band is sorry to part with Patrick Bogues, our former
fiddle and mandolin player. Niall Moore will be handling mandolin duties,
alternating between it and banjo. Michael Kielty has also now permanently
assumed his position on the drum throne, replacing Damian Maguire.
So
the group will now continue as a septuplet. This is certainly good news for some of the boys who will now
be promoted from standing on a chair to having a place of their own on stage.

At last - a site update! The gig on 30th December 2006 in the
INF was hugely successful, with the audience numbers reaching the biggest yet
at that venue and making it one of the most successful nights of the Christmas
period. Unfortunately the band had to play the gig without Damian, who was
recovering from a broken arm, however Michael Kielty stepped in behind the kit
and the show went on. Horslypse would like to thank all who came out and
showed support, making it a very enjoyable night for both the band and (we
hope) the audience.
The
band were also quite busy at the start of January recording a promotional CD
with Seamus and Don McGurgan at Meadowvale Studios, and managed to record a
number of tracks, samples of which are available on the Audio Clips page. The
band has also produced a Promotional Pack which is available for download on
our Press page. This contains information about the band for prospective
promoters and booking agents. If you are interested in booking the band,
please Contact us and we
will be happy to send you the full Promotional Pack including the CD.

Last night was amazing for us. To get to play with three members of the
Horslips was completely unbelievable. We were joined on stage by Barry Devlin,
Jim Lockhart and Johnny Fean. This was definitely our best gig by far,
certainly for us anyway. We would like to thank John McCusker and Annie
McGartland of Omagh Lions Club for putting a lot of time and effort into
organising the gig. Also to all members of Omagh Lions Club who sold tickets
for the gig, and everyone who helped promote the it including local and
national press: The Ulster Herald, The Irish News, The Newsletter, Paddy
Hunter at Q101, UTV Newsline, and BBC Radio Ulster. A huge thanks goes to
Freerider who were the support band on the night, they played a powerful set
full of original material and we wish them all the best in the future. If
anyone took photographs of last nights gig, and wouldn't mind them being
included on this site we would be more than grateful, please email us at horslipstribute@btinternet.com.

Apologies for the absence of an update website-wise, but we now have news
of a new gig. On Friday the 25th of August Omagh Lions Club presents Horslypse
featuring original Horslips members. The seated concert will take place at St
Joseph's Hall in Omagh. Tickets are now on sale priced at £15, and
are available
from McGurk's Bar, Omagh Tourist Information Office, and Reynolds Music Shop. All proceeds go to local charities. Omagh
Tourist Information Centre will take credit card bookings and post your
tickets out to you if you are not local, telephone 028 8224 7831 (or 048 from
RoI). Doors open at 7PM and support
on the night is from Freerider. We are really looking forward to the gig
and it will be nice to play a seated venue again after many pub gigs. If
anyone would like to help with advertising a poster is available here.

Apologies for the lack of updates, things have been a bit busy lately. The
whole band, the band being 'Horslypse', and not 'Horslips Tribute Act' that is
(name change), would like to wish everyone a belated happy new year. Our gig
in the INF at the end of December went brilliant, it was definitely our best
gig in Omagh yet, as we had a big crowd and the dance floor was packed by the
end of the night. We added three new songs to our set and this was the first
them we played them. Photos have been added, and a small video clip from the
night is available from the downloads page, we would like to thank Tony
McGartland for those. More than likely we will be taking a break from
performances until the summer, as many of us want to concentrate with school.
Niall's profile has been added to the lineup page, finally. You can check out our new MySpace site at http://www.myspace.com/horslypse,
its slightly bare at the moment, but more stuff will be added to it in a
while.
Wednesday 30th November 2005
We played at the switching on of the Christmas lights in Omagh on the 18th of
this month and it went really well. We were the first act on and we only got
to do four songs but it was fun. It was the first outdoor gig we
played and the sound was really good (which we didn't expect). There was a
small crowd (which we did expected) of about 60-80 people, the only problem
was that there was a huge space between us and the crowed due to the barriers.
The American
Drifters were also playing and we got to meet all of them which was pretty
cool. Dee is coming back from Cambridge and it won't be long until we
start practicing with him for the gig after Christmas which we are all looking
forward to. There are a a small number of pictures from the lights.
Thursday 3rd November 2005
Quite a few little changes to the site since it has last been updated. There
is an mp3 of what all five members of Horslips said about us over on the media
page. Damien's profile has been added to the line-up page and Danny's has been
changed slightly. The pictures page has been totally changed, there are now
many different picture pages, due to the fact that they were taking much too
long to load, also there are new photos added from the recent Drogheda and INF
gigs. The INF went really well, we played two new songs, well one new song and
a tease really. We played Johnny B Goode and added a few bars from Black Night
by Deep Purple in the middle of Furniture. It has been confirmed that we are
playing the turning on of the Christmas lights in Omagh on the 18th of this
month, which should be pretty good fun and there has been talk of a very big
project going down next summer.
Thursday 6th October 2005
Tonight's gig in Drogheda was unbelievable. We were all pretty worried about
it before hand but once we got going we were fine. Conor got to use one of
Johnny Fean's old Gibson Les Paul Juniors and I (Ryan) got to play a Gibson Les
Paul Gold top (both thanks to Paddy Goodwin). We have the whole night on mini-disc here and I'll get
some of it on the
website whenever I can. Danny got to play along with Horslips who played
Furniture at the end of our set which was pretty cool for him. A few photos
of tonight are on the second picture page. Thanks to everyone who arranged for us to
play and helped us out.
Tuesday 20th September 2005
A lot has happened in the past week. We have been booked to play in Drogheda
Arts Centre on Thursday the 6th of October. This is the opening night of the
Horslips Exhibition which will be there from the 6th until the 18th of
October. The event is invite only (just for the opening night, after that it
is open to the public) and we are greatly looking forward to it. We
also have secured another gig at the INF in Omagh, this time in conjunction
with Omagh Arts Festival. It will be a week after the Drogheda gig, Thursday
the 13th of October. Our drummer Damien is going to college in Cambridge,
therefore can't play with us at the above gigs. Tommy Dolan will be playing
drums on a temporary basis until Damien comes back. The media page has also
been updated.
Wednesday 14th September 2005
Not really much happening this weather. A few more gigs are
being arranged at the moment but nothing has been confirmed yet. There has
been a change to the INF gig in December, the date has been moved forward one day
to the 29th instead of the 28th. Also, Michael Rafferty's profile has been
added to the lineup page. That's it for now.
Saturday 27th August 2005
Thursday nights gig in Letterkenny was allot of fun and went down well.
Paddy wasn't able to be with us as he had to attend to athletic duties the
next day, so his older sister Rachel kindly stood in for the night. There has
been a few changes made to the site. The pictures page is now two picture
pages as one was taking so long to load. There have been three new sets of
photos added. Also, an MP3 from an advertisement on Highland Radio has been
added to the media coverage page along with images of all our posters. The
band would like to thank Rachel Bogues for her playing on Thursday night, well
done!
Monday 22nd August 2005
Saturday nights gig in Belfast went great, a really good crowd turned up and the
management wants us back to play again before Christmas. The band would like
to give a big thanks to everyone who came, and hopefully we'll be seeing you all
again. Some pictures of the
gig have been added to the site, along with a few mp3 recordings and a couple
of short video clips. There should
be longer videos to follow. Also, Conor's profile
has been put on the lineup page, and a review of last Thursdays INF gig is on
the media page.

Sunday
Good news for those who couldn't get to the INF gig - sound
files have been added to the Downloads page. They are a bit loud and
distorted, but that will be changed in a few days time when I put up more and
change the ones already on the site. Less than a week until the
It's early Friday morning and the concert was amazing. Totally
amazing. We have photos of us practicing on the pictures page, along with
quite a few pictures from the night itself. Near the end of the set Ryan,
Danny & John were brought up into the crowd which was pretty cool. There's
a good photo of it happening to Danny. We tried to get a sound recording of
the gig straight from the soundboard, but unfortunately it didn't work out.
Hopefully we can extract the sound from video footage of the night. There was
a lot of people out dancing for a fair few of the numbers, Dearg Doom had the
most people dancing. Thanks to everybody who came, we hope you all enjoyed it
as much as we did. Also, we've been booked for a gig in Letterkenny. More
details on the Gigs page. Paddy's profile has also been added to the Lineup
page.
Three new newspaper articles have been added to the Media page.
We now have official band t-shirts made for ourselves, which can be viewed here
and here.
We're going to get another 4 hours of practicing today for the upcoming gigs,
and we are progressing well with the new songs. To give everybody a clue about
the secret page, there's a link to it from somewhere on the bottom of the
Pictures page. I've also changed the layout of this page slightly, as you may
have noticed. Four days to go people!
It is now a week to the gig in the INF, and things are starting
to take shape, finally. Around 60 posters were put up in the Omagh area
tonight to raise awareness of the gig. A few photos of this have been added to
the Pictures page. We have a lot to do within the next week, but we are all
pretty confident that there won't be any problems. A hidden link has been
added to the site. Also, check out the new photos of Danny at the bottom of
the Pictures page.
We have a newly added page to the site, thanks to Danny. The bio page includes a brief history of the band and some relevant information on us. The poll is now closed, thanks again to all the voters. The final poll results can be viewed here. Also newly added today is a page of thanks, which is available here. Only five more days to we start practicing again!
We
apologise for the lack of updates to the site, but the webmaster (Ryan) has
been on holidays. We are currently working on profiles for the individual
members of the band, and two are already online.
They can be found on the Lineup page. Once the relevant information is
collected from the other members, we’ll put it up for viewing. Thank you to
those who took the time to vote in the poll, it has greatly helped us put
together a good list of songs. Preparation has already started for the August
gigs. Thanks to the video footage from Liam Wilkinson in
The poll seems to be going good, with Mad Pat clearly a popular tune already. I've added 33 new pictures to the site, most of them taken from video screenshots. Enjoy!
After having many discussions as to what songs are to be played from now on, we came up with quite a big list. We’ve taken out the most popular ones, and have decided to let the faithful horslips.tk visitors decide on the rest. A poll has been added to the site to let us know what you want to hear. You can vote for as many songs as you like.
The site is finally starting to come together. A lot of work has been done to it over the past few days, in regards to changing the layout and also adding more content. A huge thanks from all the band to Lee Templeton for giving us webspace, we can't thank you enough! Quite a few modifications have been made to the site, sound and video clips have been moved to the new Downloads page and a review has been added to the Media page. Our musical influences have been added to the Lineup page. Also, Contact and Gigs pages have been added.
This website started off as one simple white page with a
few pictures on it, on
